Major attack on US-led military airbase in Iraq, more than 10 rockets fired

Iraqi force is investigating 

According to Colonel Wayne Marotto, Iraqi security forces are leading the investigation into the attack. Meanwhile, a statement from the Iraqi army has come out. It says that no major damage has been done in this attack and the security forces have detected the launch pad used for the attack.

The rocket attack comes at a time when Pope Francis is scheduled to visit Iraq two days later. The Pope is also scheduled to visit Baghdad, southern Iraq and Irbil during this time. Significantly, the US last week carried out an airstrike targeting the bases of Iran-backed militia organizations near the Syria-Iraq border. Since the American attack, the counterattack was being feared that the attack might happen in response to the US attack. 

Biden government's first military action
